 KIS' Pecan Sports Club, based at Pecan Recreation Center in Boyle Heights, sits near the Aliso Pico housing development. A strong community-led board and coaching staff helped nearly 500 kids play last year. The growth of the girls' program at Pecan is a source of pride, with many mothers and other female relatives learning to coach and encourage their daughters to play.

A new and improved partnership with the staff of Aliso Pico and the Evergreen Sports Club will help the program expand opportunities for even more area youth.
