Bodger Park Kicks Off Soccer Season
City Officials, Parents, Media Salute KIS Teams

In September, 14 Kids In Sports clubs across Los Angeles opened their soccer season. KIS offers hundreds of children of all ages the chance to play soccer and improve their skills during after-school and weekend practice sessions and games.
At the KIS Bodger Park Sports Club in Hawthorne, the Soccer Season Kick Off was something to behold.

Bodger Sports Club is managed by the parents of the kids who play there. A dynamic feature at every KIS site, local management and support of each KIS club is the heart and soul of the program. Like parents at every KIS site, the Bodger Club's Board of Directors are dedicated, resourceful, and tireless.

Under the leadership of Corey & Joanne Birdsall and Teri Fry, the Bodger Board of Directors created an Opening Day event which featured a parade of teams, a welcome and encouraging words from Hawthorne's Mayor, extended media coverage of the teams, players, and parent coaches and managers by a news crew from Hawthorne Cable Television, and an enormous measure of sheer fun.

The KIS kids were the stars of the show, of course. In colorful new uniforms, everyone from the littlest players to the "big kids" was thrilled to celebrate the inauguration of their season, and every team played an afternoon game once the ceremonies concluded.

Judging by the energy and smiles the Bodger event generated, the KIS soccer season is off to a grand start.

KIS salutes and thanks every parent for their valuable, and vital, contribution to the success of every KIS team.
