Montebello was a club that began from scratch and was built on the combination of an eagerly supportive school system and City of Montebello Parks and Recreation staff. The club originally serviced 3rd and 4th graders from six area elementary schools. In the two years since its inception, the club has grown to include 1st and 2nd graders. This season, the club expanded again to offer a 5th and 6th grade division. A program which was supposed to start slowly and build, Montebello drew hundreds of area children from day one, impressing KIS and the local school system, which has been the program's biggest fan and best friend. The program exploded so rapidly that a single season ending banquet was not sufficient - they needed 3 to honor everyone. There is so much demand that registration is now being taken at each school, as well as The City Park, which the club uses as a host site for all basketball games.
