Bethune Sports Club is one of the original KIS clubs and an important center for over 1,000 neighborhood kids. Based at Bethune Park in Central Los Angeles, the club is home to hundreds of boys and girls who practice and play nearly every day of the week, year-round. The club has a strong volunteer coaching corps, including several KIS 'alums,' who have graduated and come back to volunteer with the younger kids in the program. Bethune’s strong basketball program helps keep community members active, engaged, and safe. Bethune's G.I.R.L.S. program has been one of KIS' strongest, with mothers, sisters and other women volunteering as coaches and mentors to young women athletes who participate in the KIS-wide G.I.R.L.S. leagues.
